Texas rain does not drizzle. It arrives, empties itself over the afternoon and takes your outdoor plans with it. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is where to go when that happens.
The Perot is five storeys of hands-on science in a building that looks like a concrete cube with an escalator bolted to the outside. Dinosaurs, earth science, engineering and interactive exhibits give different ages plenty to explore. The children’s area gives younger visitors somewhere designed with them in mind, rather than simply dragging them around exhibits aimed at their older siblings.
It is genuinely indoors and can easily fill a good part of the day, which is the real test of a rainy-day option.
Check current admission and ticket availability before you drive over, particularly on weekends, school holidays and rainy days when everyone else in Dallas may have the same idea.
