Getting to South Dallas: Airports, Driving and Parking Three Cars

The multi-level High Five Interchange where major highways meet in Dallas, Texas

Game Room Oasis sits in South Dallas near where I-35 meets I-20. That location was not an accident — it is why most of Dallas–Fort Worth is within an easy drive. But getting to it needs a small amount of planning.

Which airport. DFW International is the larger of the two, with more international routes, and sits north-west of the house — allow forty-five minutes to an hour depending on traffic. Dallas Love Field is smaller, closer and considerably less stressful with children, at roughly twenty-five minutes. Love Field is mostly domestic, and largely Southwest. If your fares are similar, take Love Field.

Hire a car. We will say this plainly: you need one. Dallas is spread out, public transport will not get you efficiently between the places you want to go, and rideshare for a group of twelve gets expensive fast. Most families travelling with us arrive in two or three vehicles anyway.

Which is where parking matters. There is a private driveway plus street parking outside, which is exactly the sort of unglamorous detail that decides whether an arrival is smooth or chaotic. Nobody is shuffling cars at eleven at night.

Driving in. From either airport it is motorway most of the way. Dallas traffic is worst between seven and nine in the morning and four and six in the evening — if your flight lands in that window, add half an hour and do not panic.

Arrival. Check-in is after 4pm and it is a self check-in, so you are welcome any time after that with no waiting on anyone. Check-out is by 10am. If you need an early check-in or a late check-out, message us and we will tell you what is available for your dates rather than making you guess.

A solar-lit pathway runs to the door, the entrances at front and rear are step-free, and the front door is 34 inches wide. Arriving after dark with tired children and too much luggage is the scenario that was designed for.

If you are driving in from elsewhere in Texas rather than flying, the house is straightforward to reach from either I-35 or I-20 and the final approach is ordinary suburban road rather than anything awkward. Guests arriving from Houston or Austin usually find the last twenty minutes the easiest part of the journey.

Check availability and we will help you plan the arrival.
