Half of packing for a family trip is working out what the house already has. So we will start there.
Do not bring: a pack-n-play, a high chair, or children’s dishes. All three are already at Game Room Oasis. The coffee table has a pop-up section that works as a booster seat. The kitchen has full appliances, an Instant Pot, real cookware and a coffee, tea and cocoa bar, all complimentary. Cabinets are labelled, so nobody spends the first evening opening six doors looking for a mixing bowl. There is a washer, dryer, iron and board, which changes what you need for stays over four nights. Phone chargers are in every bedroom.
Do bring, if you are coming June to September: more water bottles than seems sensible, high-factor sun cream, hats, and swimwear even if you have no plans involving water. Splash pads are everywhere and free.
For spring and autumn: layers. A March morning can be sixty degrees and the afternoon eighty-five. A light rain jacket is more useful than an umbrella, as Texas rain tends to arrive sideways.
For winter: a proper coat, honestly. Dallas sits in the fifties in January but cold snaps happen and visitors underestimate them every year.
Whatever the season, bring comfortable walking shoes. Dallas attractions involve more ground than people expect, and the zoo is hilly.
If you are bringing pets — up to two are welcome — bring extra bedding for them, particularly if they sleep with you. Approve them with us before you book, and the fee is $45 rather than $200.
The bigger tip is this: message us before you pack. Tell us ages, mobility needs, pets and how many cars. We will tell you what we already have, what we can arrange, and what you genuinely need to bring. It costs nothing and it is the single thing that most improves how a big family trip goes.
One more thing worth packing that people forget: a phone charger for the car, and any prescription medication in your hand luggage rather than a checked bag. Both sound obvious. Both come up often enough that we now mention them. Dallas pharmacies are plentiful, but sorting a prescription in an unfamiliar state on a Sunday is not how anyone wants to spend the first day.
Check availability, then send us a message.
